Privacy Policy

The short version: this app doesn't have a server. Everything you enter stays on your own device. We — the people who built and operate this site — never see your debts, your balances, your check-ins, or anything else you type in.

1. What data this app handles, and where it lives

All information you enter — debt names, balances, interest rates, minimum payments, check-in history, your currency preference, and your Snowball/Avalanche choice — is stored using your browser's built-in localStorage. This is a storage mechanism built into your browser itself, similar to how a browser remembers your login on a site you've visited before. It is not a database we operate, and it is not transmitted to us, to any server, or to any third party at any point.

We — Steady Calculator — have no way to see, access, collect or recover your data. If you clear your browser's site data, uninstall your browser or switch devices, your information is gone unless you've exported a backup (see "Your controls" below). We cannot restore it for you.

2. Currency detection

This app can automatically suggest a currency based on your device. It does this by reading two pieces of information your browser already exposes to any website: your browser's language/region setting and your device's time zone. Both are read locally, in your browser, and neither is sent anywhere — there is no IP lookup, no geolocation request, and no external service involved in this feature. You can override the detected currency at any time in Settings.

3. What we don't collect

• No account or sign-up is required, so we don't have your name, email, or password.
• No analytics or tracking scripts are installed on this site as shipped.
• No cookies are used for tracking or advertising.
• No financial accounts are linked — every number in this app is one you typed in yourself.

4. Third-party services

This site loads two font files from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com) so the page displays correctly. Loading these files means your browser makes a direct request to Google's servers, which — like any web request — exposes your IP address to Google for that request. Google's own privacy policy governs that exchange; we don't control it. If this matters to you, Steady Calculator can self-host these font files instead of loading them from Google's CDN.

If a future version of this site adds analytics, advertising, or affiliate links, this policy will be updated to reflect that change before it happens, and this section will describe exactly what's added.

5. Your controls

• Export: Settings → Export your data downloads everything you've entered as a JSON file, saved directly to your own device. Nothing passes through us to generate that file.
• Reset: Settings → Reset all data permanently erases everything stored in this browser. This cannot be undone from within the app.
• Backup reminder: because nothing is stored anywhere but your own browser, we'd recommend exporting a backup occasionally, especially before clearing your browser's data or switching devices.

6. Hosting-level logs

Whoever hosts this site (a static hosting provider, such as the one Steady Calculator uses to publish it) may keep standard server access logs — the kind virtually every website host generates automatically, typically including IP address, request time, and browser type. This is separate from anything the app itself does, and is common practice for any website on the internet.

7. Children's privacy

This site isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age, since we don't collect information from anyone at all — see Section 1.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the update.
